Here’s two audio Bible tools for you. Interestingly, they are both called “Pod Bibles.” The first is a Podcast, but you can listen to the Scriptures from their site. Play these during teaching times to add a new dimension to the Scriptures.

The second is a readable Bible for your iPod. It uses the “Notes” portion of the iPod firmware. Read it on the train, in a plane, in the car (while not driving), in the bathroom (don’t drop it in), use with an impromptu devotion at camp…whatever!

keys for kids

CBH Ministries has a great component on their site which provides devotionals to kids. Kids can get “Keys” over email, through regular mail, archived on the website, or as a podcast. Be sure to link these on your church website and promote them to the kids in your ministry!

I know that many of you may be considering your options for a guest speaker over the coming year. With many of you not coming to my actual site and checking the blog from a reader, I wanted to make sure you knew about my secondary calling as an event speaker or worship leader. I am passionate about kids and families drawing closer to the Lord. I’m even more passionate about my Jesus and His gospel. Perhaps you are considering a speaker for:

  • Upward Awards Night
  • Awana Awards Night (Scripture memorization is a deep passion of mine)
  • VBS Kick Off or Celebration
  • Summer Camp
  • Kids or Family Retreat
  • Volunteer Banquet
  • Kids Ministry Sunday

Coincidentally, I’m not available to speak on:

  • Pet Grooming
  • Fireworks Safety
  • Small Engine Repair
  • How to Get Your Youth Pastor to Understand That Children’s Ministry Really Is the Most Important Ministry in the Church
  • Rogaine: To Foam or Not To Foam
  • Any Topic with the Letter “Q”

Or perhaps you want a powerful and entertaining message delivered at half of what you would normally pay someone who does this on a full time basis. I don’t juggle fiery samurai swords, can’t spin 14 basketballs on my fingers, and don’t know how to make an ornery child disappear under a sheet. I have been told, however, that the Lord has given me a unique ability to present His Word in creative, powerful, and entertaining ways. I intertwine games, interactive object lessons, passionate speaking, music, audience response, and expository preaching into all of my messages. I’ve done a number of these events over the years and can provide a good deal of references (except the church that almost burnt down…).

If you are interested, check out my Consulting section for contact details. I’m flexible and fair regarding fees and travel; I work with what your church is able to do and have no set charges. May the Lord bless your ministry, and I hope my calling can benefit a few churches out there!

Keep Your Focus-Day 8

This entry is part 8 of 8 in the series Keep Your Focus

I love music. Since I miss a great deal of worship services, I worship at many other times aside from Sunday mornings. One of the tools I use in the office each week is a site called Grooveshark. You can listen (not necessarily download) virtually any song you can think of. It is a free, internet-based music service. You can purchase a membership with them in order to listen to music in more versatile ways as well.

I took a little break for Thanksgiving. Thanks for hanging with me. I’m so excited. The site is growing! The feeds are growing! My content is growing! Thanks for being a faithful reader!

To continue my Keep Your Focus series, a series dedicated to resources that can help our spiritual growth, I wanted to make you aware of some great Bible studies. Grace Bible Church of College Station, TX has put some publication quality Bible studies online. You could go through these studies for a couple of years and not have to buy a bible study.

This one is for my scholar friends out there! Check out GreekStudyBible.org. You can read the Greek, plus 4 other translations (pretty much any of them) side by side. You can parse words, see detailed meanings, make study notes, and cross reference with an exhaustive Greek concordance. This site is an extremely versatile and user friendly tool. Even if you have the most basic knowledge of the Greek language, it is helpful!

Don’t forget to put your name in the hat for a FREE 1 hour phone consultation.

Today, I bring you Examen.me.

examenme

This is an online devotional site which allows spiritual growth through the following three arenas:

  1. Scripture reading and mediation
  2. Prayer guides
  3. Journaling

You have to sign up with a free account to access it. I have to say that it is a very neat concept and its interface is user friendly. However, if you are like me, and you love to have the actual book in front of you with real pen and paper, this site most likely won’t be used much. I did want to make it known to my more “tech-minded” followers out there who may be able to foster a great amount of spiritual growth using this avenue.

Have you used this before? Do you know of any similar sites? Comment below!
